The Ministry of Education and MTN Rwanda Sign Partnership to Transform Digital Learning Across the Country
A landmark collaboration set to put over 500 digital courses in the hands of Rwandan youth
Rwanda's Ministry of Education and MTN Rwanda have joined forces in a significant new partnership aimed at accelerating digital skills development and broadening access to digital learning for students, teachers, and out-of-school youth across the nation. The collaboration was marked by the official launch of Digital Skills for Digital Jobs — a purpose-built digital learning and career-guidance platform designed to connect Rwandan youth with the market-relevant skills they need to thrive in the country's rapidly growing digital economy.
A Partnership Built Around Real-World Impact
At the heart of this initiative is a clear, practical goal: close the skills gap between what Rwanda's young people are learning today and what the digital economy demands tomorrow. Minister of Education Joseph Nsengimana made this focus unmistakably clear during the launch event.
"This partnership between the Government of Rwanda, through the Ministry of Education, and MTN is about more than connectivity — it is about skills that change lives," he said. "By expanding access to digital learning for students, teachers, and out-of-school youth, we are equipping young people with the skills they need not only to succeed, but to thrive in the 21st-century economy."
What the Partnership Means in Practice
The benefits of this collaboration extend across several key areas of Rwanda's education landscape. Teachers currently undertaking English-language courses will gain access to affordable, customised data bundles — removing one of the most persistent barriers to continued professional development in a connected world. At the same time, education content will be streamlined and made more accessible, ensuring that learning materials reach the people who need them most.
Beneficiaries of the government's RISE Programme will also receive dedicated support under this framework. But perhaps the broadest impact will be felt by young people nationwide, who will now be able to tap into a library of more than 500 digital courses spanning a wide range of skills relevant to today's job market.

Minister Nsengimana was emphatic that the goal of this partnership stretches beyond simply getting people online.
